In the above formulae, $N_\nu$ and $t_{\rm int}$ are parameters that you have the most flexibility in selecting prior to correlation. Essentially, $N_\nu$ is limited by the physical size of the correlator, and $t_{\rm int}$ by how quickly the correlated data can be read out of the correlator.
