EVN development plans
The EVN is continuously upgrading and developing its capabilities both at the stations and the correlators. Key programmes of development are listed below:
- New receivers - opening up new frequencies for observers and providing better system performance
- 2 head recording, allowing data rates of up to 1 Gbits/second (first results)
- Upgrade of Chinese antennas to MkIV
- Upgrade of VLBA DAS to MkIV
- Finishing touches to EMU (including FUT - the Formatter Upgrade Team)
- Procurement of MkIV decoders
- An IF switch box for seemless compatibility with geodetic stations
- Astronomical development of the Field System (FS)
- Maintaining the FS's LINUX kernel
- Spares and Obselete Parts
- Improving Amplitude Calibration
- Sched for EVN observations
- EVN 2010 - fibres or an off-the-shelf DAS
