First EVN image using MkV-MkV baseline data
On 25 February 2003 four telescopes of the European VLBI Network participated in a mixed tape-MkV experiment at 18cm. Jodrell Bank and Noto recorded on tape only, while Medicina and Westerbork recorded on both tape and disk. The data rate was 256 Mbit/s. The same datastream was recorded on the tape from headstack1, and on disk from headstack2.
There were two sources observed: DA193 and 3C84. We show the map of DA193 above, using the tape-disk data, including the Mk5-Wb to Mk5-Mc baseline. Below the amplitudes and phases are shown for the Mc-Wb baseline (after a priori amplitude calibration and fringe-fitting). Tape-tape data is to the left, disk-disk data is to the right. There is a general good agreement between the datasets. Some minor differences were observed, and these are under investigation.
