Scheduling EVN experiments

  • The latest EVN/Global VLBI Block Schedule (postscript, ascii, archive).
  • Block Schedules for the next few e-EVN sessions (all ascii files):
    • the next e-session,
    • the next+1 e-session,
    • the next+2 e-session, and
    • the next+3 e-session.
and the archive of e-block schedules (starting from July 2007).
  • EVN PI Instruction Sheet (ascii, postscript).
  • Create the schedule using the NRAO SCHED (documentation, source code) program. In the unlikely event that it is needed (Mark III experiments for example) the Haystack PC-SCHED program is still available.
  • Designing an experiment in SCHED can be made easier using example keyin files (for a variety of different experiment types).
  • The EVN Status table lists the current VLBI technical status of the telescopes. The telescope sensitivities tabulated here are incorporated into the EVN Calculator.
  • Additional information is available for projects that involve spectral line and polarisation modes and MERLIN, the VLBA and non-EVN observatories in general.
  • If you're observing with Arecibo you might want to look at the Arecibo schedule (The left-hand column gives times in AST [Atlantic Standard Time] which is four hours behind UT). There is also a VLBI at Arecibo web page.
  • Calibration sources can be found at various places on the web e.g. the VLBA fringe-finder survey, the VLBA calibrator survey and the USNO Radio Reference Frame Image Database.
  • Information on many sources can be found at the NASA/IPAC Extragalactic Database (NED).
  • Some information regarding the creation of setups that include geodetic stations at S/X band is available.
  • Once the schedule has been made the various schedule files need to be deposited on the vlbeer server in Bologna.
  • If you are using stations other than those of the EVN, NRAO, ARECIBO, DSN and VSOP (e.g. Ny-Alesund, Matera, Algonquin Park), you should consult the code of practice for non-EVN observatories.
